MIDDLEBURG — Stanley R. Kratzer Sr., 75, of New Berlin Highway, passed away on Monday evening, Feb. 3, 2014, at the home of his daughter and son-in-law.
He was born March 28, 1938, in Winfield, a son of the late Myles and Margaret (Baney) Kratzer. On July 19, 1957, he married the former Kathryn E. Kline, who preceded him in death on Dec. 16, 1995.
Stanley had been employed at Zimmer Homes, later Northeastern Luxury Homes, where he was an electrician and supervisor. He also had operated a used car lot.
He was a member of Hummel’s United Methodist Church, Middleburg, and the United Auto Workers Union.
Stan loved animals and enjoyed old cars. He was very gifted on string instruments, including the mandolin, guitar, banjo and ukulele. The greatest joys of his life were his grandchildren.
He is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Beth Ann and Ron Mull, of Middleburg; two sons and daughters-in-law, Stanley R. Jr. and Angie Kratzer, of Greensboro, N.C., and Steven A. and Deborah Kratzer, of Middleburg; four grandchildren, Angela Aucker and husband Chad, Kaitlyn, Emili and Samuel Kratzer; two great-granddaughters, Lauryn and Alyssa Aucker; two brothers, Melvin Conrad and Raymond Kratzer, both of Middleburg, and his special friend, Patsy Yarger, of Middleburg.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Marlin Kratzer, and one son-in-law, Wayne Miller.
Family and friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in the Hummel Funeral Home, 574 Hill St., Middleburg. The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Hummel’s United Methodist Church, Middleburg, with the Rev. Carvel K. May officiating.
Burial will be in the adjoining church cemetery.
