LEWISBURG — John J. Macce, 87, of Lewisburg, formerly of Millburn, N.J., passed peacefully on Sunday, Sept. 22, 2013.
He was born in Vitulano, Italy, and lived in Millburn for 56 years, before moving to Lewisburg in 1988. He was married to the former Joan Curtis who preceded him in death.
John proudly served in the Army Air Force during World War II, from 1944 to 1946.
He was a postal supervisor with the Short Hills Post Office for many years, retiring over 20 years ago.
He was a parishioner of St. Rose of Lima Church in Short Hills, N.J. and Sacred Heart Church in Lewisburg.
John loved gardening and playing golf.
He is survived by three children and their spouses, Patricia L. and Kevin Brown, John C. and Michelle Macce, and Elizabeth Jean Macce; seven grandchildren, Meredith and Michael Brown, Lucas, Nicholas, John, Alexandra and Giacomo Macce; two sisters, Anne Diamente and Nancy Tighe.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Barbara Rae Turner.
Visiting hours will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Bradley Smith & Smith Funeral Home, 415 Morris Ave., Springfield, N.J. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday in St. Rose of Lima Church, Short Hills.
Interment will be in St. Stephen’s Cemetery.
