Violet J. Pehowic, 88, Lewisburg

— LEWISBURG — Violet June Pehowic, 88, was surrendered as she slept to be with the Lord Saturday, Oct. 5, 2013, where she had resided at Riverwoods Nursing Home, Lewisburg for almost two years.

She was born June 20 , 1925, in Kapp Heights , Northumberland, a daughter of the late Murray and Lizzie ( Walter ) Bowersox who both preceded her in death in 1951.

In September 1943 Violet married the late Grover W. Rowe of Snyder County (Blue Hill), who preceded her in death May 22, 1988, and she then remarried Robert Pehowic, of Sunbury, who also preceded her in death.

Violet worked for many years at various sewing factories in the area including the Nite Craft in Sunbury. When her youngest daughter Sharon was born she became a stay at home wife and mother of her three children.

She enjoyed shopping a lot and enjoyed traveling. Violet especially loved the south and taking bus trips in her later years with the senior centers she attended and volunteered at over the years.She loved spending time with her family and especially her newest great-granddaughter Lillian.

Surviving are her two daughters, Ruby Erdman and husband James, of Sunbury and her youngest daughter, Sharon Rowe, of Lewisburg.

Preceding her also in death is one son Max W.Rowe of South Carolina.

Also sisters Marion Fisher, Dorothy Fisher, brothers, Robert, Kenneth and PaulBowersox, and infant William.

She is also survived by granddaughters Tammy Mac Whinnie , husband Heath, great-granddaughter Lillian , two stepgrandchildren, Alyssa and Colin Mac Whinnie, of Columbia Crossroads, and Aimee Naimo and husband Lillo, of Northumberland; and great-grandson Hunter Raker serving in the U. S Army at Fort Lee, Virginia.

Friends and relatives will be received from 11 a.m. to noon Wednesday at the Trinity United Methodist Church at Sixth and King Streets, Northumberland.Officiating will be Pastor Cindy Gunter.

In leiu of flowers , contributions can be made to the church.

 Arrangements have been made by Joseph Epler Funeral Home, Northumberland.
