McCLURE — The soul of Ruth A. (Thomas) Moist, 77, of McClure was reunited with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Thursday, June 13, 2013, at Hershey Medical Center.
Ruth was born on March 29, 1936, and was the daughter of John and Mae Thomas, of Beaver Springs. Ruth is survived by her husband, Thaddeus R. Moist. She is also survived by her daughter, Clayla J. (Kline) Baker, husband Robert and their two children, Christopher and Vanessa, and her son, Sheldon L. Romig Jr., his wife Cindy and their two children, Skylar and Tristin.
Ruth is survived by siblings, Beatrice Thomas, of Beaver Springs, John R. and Albert Thomas, of McClure, Kathryn Saylor, of Beavertown, Martha Thomas, of Carlisle, and Marvin Thomas, of Reading.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Glenn and Russell Thomas, and a sister, Bertha Goss.
Ruth worked at a number of sewing factories over the years and most recently at Asher’s Chocolates (formerly Goss Candies) in Lewistown where she retired from in 2001. Following retirement, Ruth enjoyed time taking care of her lawn as well as working in her flower and vegetable gardens. When inclement weather kept her from these joys, she could be found inside making quilts or crocheting prayer shawls and making baked goods for folks in need.
Ruth’s request will be honored by her family when they host a “victory celebration” on Saturday, June 22. This celebration will be held at Beavertown God’s Missionary Church at 10 a.m. with a brief time of visitation beginning at 9 a.m.
Although she loved flowers of all kinds, it was Ruth’s desire that, in lieu of sending flowers, monetary donations be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (lls.org or (888) 557-7177), American Heart Association (https://donate.americanheart.org or (800) 242-8721), or Hershey Medical Center (www.givetopennstatehershey.org or (717) 531-8497.
Arrangements are by the Pheasant Funeral Home, 316 W. Market St., Beavertown.
