NORTHUMBERLAND — Minnie E. Bowman, 90, of Northumberland, formerly of Smokehouse Lane, Shamokin Dam, passed away at 2:15 a.m. Tuesday, June 18, 2013, in Nottingham Village, Northumberland, where she had been a guest since March. Before entering Nottingham, she was a resident of Emmanuel Home, Northumberland, for nearly eight years.
She was born April 30, 1923, in Shamokin Dam, the daughter of the late John and Martha (Hottenstein) Gilbert.
Minnie was a 1941 graduate of Selinsgrove High School and attended the Philadelphia General Hospital School of Nursing.
She retired from the Selinsgrove Center after 27 years of service.
Minnie was a longtime member of St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, Shamokin Dam.
She is survived by one son, James E. Bowman, of Shamokin Dam, and several stepgrandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, John W. Bowman, and one brother, William E. Gilbert.
In honoring Minnie’s wishes, there will be no public viewing. A private burial will be held in Orchard Hills Cemetery with the Rev. Dr. Lois Martin officiating.
