Larry E. Nornhold Sr., 78, Kreamer

— KREAMER — Larry E. Nornhold Sr., 78, of Kreamer, passed away on Wednesday, June 19, 2013, at his home.

He was born Oct. 8, 1934, in Middleburg, a son of the late Oliver and Violet (Osborne) Nornhold. On Aug. 12, 1955, he married the former Thelma M. Sauers, whom he dearly loved and loved caring for.

Larry was a 1954 graduate of Middleburg High School and served in the Marine Corps.

Earlier, he had been employed by the Selinsgrove Center, and he retired after 40 years of service from Wood-Mode, Kreamer.

He was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Kreamer, where he had served on the leadership council, as a Sunday school teacher and superintendent. Larry loved the Lord with all his heart. He was a founding member of the Kreamer Recreation Association, the Middleburg Wrestling Association and served as a coach with the Kreamer Little League, as a Boy Scout leader and was active in Kreamer Pioneer Days.

He was an avid fisherman, loved gardening and earlier in life enjoyed hunting and trapping. Larry loved his family and enjoyed family outings.

In addition to his wife of 57 years, he is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Larry E. “Ed” Jr. and Sue Nornhold, of Richfield, and Dean E. and Lorie Nornhold, of Kreamer; two daughters and sons-in-law, Debra K. and Keith Aucker and Lisa L. and Scott Sprenkle, all of Kreamer; nine grandchildren and their spouses, Eric and Hope Aucker, Corey and Barbara Aucker, Stephanie and Chris Kolakowski, Brad and Ann Claire Nornhold, Kyle and Kerry Nornhold, Brandon and Erika Nornhold, Lindsay Nornhold and fiance Ryan Schaff, Tristan Sprenkle and Taylor Sprenkle; nine great-grandchildren, Lacie, Sage, Gabe, Gavin, Easton, Sydney, Zachary, Ellery and Ethan, and twin great-granddaughters expected in July; one sister and brother-in-law, Connie and George Hile, of Millmont; and one brother and four sisters-in-law, Douglas L. and Delores Nornhold, of Mount Pleasant Mills, Gloria Nornhold, of Middleburg, Priscilla Nornhold, of Mount Sterling, Ky., and June Hepner, of Lewisburg.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Robert O., Gene H. and Richard T. Nornhold Sr.; one sister-in-law, Agnes Nornhold; and one brother-in-law, George Sauers.

A service to celebrate Larry’s life will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday in St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Kreamer, with the Rev. Amanda K. Range officiating.
