BEAVERTOWN — Martha Winey, 87, of Beavertown, formerly of Richfield, entered into eternal rest with her family by her side on Monday, April 15, 2013, at the home of her caregiver, Karen Carter, of Beavertown.
Martha was born at home in Chapman Township, Snyder County, the daughter of the late Palmer and Annie R. (Metzger) Bower. She was married to Herbert I. Winey, who preceded her on April 13, 2006.
Martha was a loving wife, mother and homemaker.
She was affiliated with St. John Lutheran Church, Richfield.
Martha enjoyed gardening and operating the family produce stand.
She is survived by seven children and their spouses, Daphne Ann and David Weimer, Diane Kay Dressler, Dawn D. and John Willow, Donna L. and Jeffrey Reisinger and Dana S. and Barbie Jo Winey, all of Richfield, Douglas L. and Jacqueline Winey, of Selinsgove, and Doreen M. Winey, of Harrisburg; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and her special caregiver, Karen Carter and her family, of Beavertown.
She was the last of her immediate family. Martha was preceded by six brothers, Henry, Merlin, Raymond, Chester, Fred and Ralph Bower, and a son-in-law, Kenneth Dressler.
Friends and family are invited to the visitation from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday and 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, followed by a Christian burial service at 11, in St. John Lutheran Church, Route 35 and Church Street, Richfield, with the Rev. Andrew C. Weaver officiating.
Burial will be made in Richfield Union Cemetery.
