WATSONTOWN — Larry E. Beaver, 62, of Quarry Drive, passed away Wednesday, April 17, 2013, at his home following a three-year battle with ALS.
He was born April 17, 1951, in Williamsport, a son of Ralph Beaver, of Watsontown, and Dorothy (Lilley) Beaver, of Williamsport. On Aug. 4, 1973, he married the former Joyce R. Reynolds, and they celebrated 39 years of marriage.
Larry was a 1969 graduate of Warrior Run High School and a 1973 graduate of Bloomsburg University.
He taught math in the Bloomsburg Middle School for seven years and then at Warrior Run High School for 31 years, retiring due to ill health in 2011.
He attended First Baptist Church, Milton.
Larry enjoyed woodworking and landscaping, especially around his home in rural Watsontown.
In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Timothy E. and Kelly Beaver, of Pottstown; one daughter and son-in-law, Jodie B. and Michael Lefebvre, of West Chester; five grandchildren, Aidan, Jacob and Hannah Lefebvre and Taylor and Kylie Beaver; one brother and sister-in-law, Randy and Jody Beaver, of Elk Ridge, Md.; and two sisters and one brother-in-law, Nina and Rick Murray, of Hagerstown, Md., and Paulette Beaver, of Williamsport.
Friends are invited to call from 3 to 4 p.m. Sunday at First Baptist Church, 316 Golf Course Road, Milton, followed by a memorial service at 4 with the Rev. James R. Dries, his pastor, and the Rev. A. Bruce Amme, of Turbotville, officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in his memory be made to Evangelical Home Hospice, 1 Hospital Drive, Lewisburg, PA 17837, or the ALS Association of Greater Philadelphia, 321 Norristown Road, Ambler, PA 19002 (www.alsphiladelphia.org).
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Brooks Funeral Home, 124 Main St., Watsontown.
