SUNBURY — James C. “Jim” Klinger, 78, of Sunbury, a former resident of Herndon, passed away Saturday, April 20, 2013, in the Golden Living Center-Mansion, Sunbury, where he had been living.
Jim was born Sept. 1, 1934, in Herndon, a son of the late Clair W. and Hulda A. (Deitz) Klinger. In August 1969, he married the former Mary Ann Moyer, who preceded him on July 8, 1998.
He was a 1953 graduate of Mahanoy Joint High School, Herndon, and served as the class president. He later joined the Army, serving in Japan, and was honorably discharged with the rank of Specialist 6.
Jim was the former manager of Nelson’s Restaurant, Millersburg, worked in upholstery and later refinishing for Pennsylvania House Furniture for 25 years while owning and operating Klinger’s Flower Shop, Sunbury.
He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Herndon.
Jim enjoyed antiques, attending public auctions and yard sales, sewing and was a talented cook and baker.
He is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer L. and Tom M. Renkevens, of Laurel, Md.; one son, James C. Klinger II, of Selinsgrove; four grandchildren, Sarah G. and Elizabeth M. Renkevens and Alexander J. and Cody J. Klinger; one brother and sister-in-law, Jacob W. and Cheryl A. Klinger, of Sunbury; and his former daughter-in-law, Rita A. Klinger, of Selinsgrove.
Friends and family may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Joseph W. Epler Funeral Home, 210 King St., Northumberland, where the funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday with the Rev. Frederick H. Faust officiating.
Burial will follow in Orchard Hills Cemetery, Shamokin Dam.
