William H. Shultz Sr., 91, Milton

MILTON — William H. Shultz Sr., 91, of Mahoning Street, passed away on Tuesday, April 23, 2013, at his home.  

He was born July 7, 1921, in Sunbury, a son of the late Mabel (Shultz) and Harold Raker.  He was married to the former Barbara Sheasley who survives.  He was preceded in death by his first wife Betty (Diehl) Shultz.

William was a 1940 graduate of Sunbury High School and served in the Army during World War II serving in Okinawa and the Philippines.   

He worked at Edinburgh Trucking and Chef Boyardee, both of Milton, Watsontown Foundry, the Milton Standard, RiverWoods, Lewisburg, Ames Department Store, Lewisburg, and for 30 years at Glen-Gery Brick, Watsontown.  

William was an active member of St. Peter’s United Methodist Church, Milton where he taught Sunday school and sang in the choir. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion, Milton.  

He was a family man and liked to be outside and tend to his garden.

He is survived by two sons, Roy Shultz and William Shultz Jr., both of Milton; two daughters, Bonnie Micklesavage and Darlene Shemory, both of Milton; six stepchildren, Ralph Guffey, Norm Guffey, Brian Guffey, Pam Guffey, Dianne O’Connor, and Brenda Nixon; seven grandchildren, Donna, Bill, Aaron, Jamie, Lisa, Jesse, and Zachary; 16 stepgrandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 25 stepgreat-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Friends and relatives will be received from noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday in the Shaw Funeral Home, 400 N. Front St., Milton, followed by a memorial service at 1 with Pastor Kathleen M. Ehrsam officiating.  

Burial with military honors will be in Harmony Cemetery, Milton.

The family will provide flowers and ask that memorial donations be made to St. Peter’s United Methodist Church, 239 Hepburn St., Milton, PA 17847, or to Disabled American Veterans Memorial Program,  P.O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301.
