SUNBURY — Albert B. Cassidy Sr., 82, of Sunbury, passed away on Thursday, June 27, 2013, at ManorCare of Sunbury.
Al was born in Bucks County on Aug. 2, 1930, a son of the late Martin and Mae (Joseph) Cassidy. He served in the Navy then worked as a journeyman tool and die maker for Budd Company in Philadelphia. He ran and owned a Sunoco station in Limerick, PA, during the 1960s and 70s, and finished his career in sales and marketing for the cemetery business.
Al would be remembered for his love of country and patriotism, never hesitating to sport an American flag t-shirt or cap. He also enjoyed reading and was an enthusiastic Philadelphia Eagles fan.
In addition to his wife, Elizabeth Beck Cassidy (married July 7, 2004), he is survived by five children, Virginia Imperial, of Royersford; Linda Cassidy, of Limerick; Jennifer Smith, of North Ridgeville, Ohio; Albert Cassidy Jr., of Audubon; and Michael Cassidy, of Allentown; three stepchildren Melissa Hummel, of Northumberland, Chris Hummel, of Sunbury, and Shanna Bordner, of Harleysville; 10 grandchildren/step grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren/step-great-grandchildren; and one brother, Joseph Cassidy, of San Diego, Calif.
He was preceded in death by one son, Sean Patrick Cassidy, and by three brothers and one sister.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
Donations in Al’s honor may be made to the National Parkinson Foundation.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Jerre Wirt Blank Funeral Home, 395 State St., Sunbury.
