Clayton S. Kratzer, 79, Port Trevorton

— PORT TREVORTON — Clayton S. “Clate” Kratzer, 79, of Port Trevorton, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, Nov. 15, 2012, at the Manor at Penn Village, Selinsgrove.

Clayton was born on Feb. 17, 1933, in Liverpool, a son of the late George H. and Bertha (Hile) Kratzer. On Sept. 22, 1951, he married the former Verna M. Kline, who survives. His passing breaks a loving marital union of 61 years.

He attended several grade schools, Locust Grove, Houtz School, and North Pole, all of Liverpool and Port Trevorton areas.

Earlier in life, Clayton worked various jobs, including 22 years for H.J. Williams Construction Company of York, and later retired from Hepco Inc. Selinsgrove due to ill health.

He was a member of the United Steelworkers of America Union District 50, and attended Dressler’s Ridge United Methodist Church, Mt. Pleasant Mills.

Clayton enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Surviving, in addition to his beloved wife, are four children and their spouses, Carolyn and Richard Shafer, of Port Trevorton, Betty and Galen Dressler, of McAlisterville, Richard Kratzer and his fiancee Jody Young, of Selinsgrove, and William and Melissa Kratzer, of Danville; nine grandchildren, Jennifer Freed and her husband Adam, Jessica Lauver and her fiance Jason Lucus, Kendra Kratzer, Steven Kratzer, Matthew Kratzer, LeAnn Kratzer, Rylee Kratzer, David Kratzer, and Johanna Kratzer; four great-grandchildren, Alivia, Alexis, Blaise, and Marissa; three stepgreat- grandchildren;,Brittney, Hunter, and Danika; one brother and sistere-in-law,  Marlin and Leona Kratzer; one sister-in-law, Shirley Kratzer, of Liverpool; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Clayton was preceded by one son-in-law, Roger Naylor, one brother, Robert Kratzer, one  sister and brother-in-law, Rachel and Chester Hupp; and one brother and sister, in infancy.

Friends and family are invited to the viewing from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and again from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday, followed by the funeral service at 2 at the George P. Garman Funeral Homes Inc. 606 N. Front St., Liverpool. Officiating will be Pastor Albert W. Heimbach.

Burial will be in Dressler’s Ridge Cemetery, Mount  Pleasant Mills.
