Doris M. Caris, 79, New Columbia

— NEW COLUMBIA — Doris M. Caris, 79, of New Columbia Road, passed away on Sunday, July 7, 2013, at her home.

She was born Sept. 22, 1933, in East Pennsboro Township, Cumberland County, a daughter of the late Willard Calvin LaForm and Thelma Elizabeth (Snyder) LaForm Bollinger. She was married to Leonard L. Caris for 54 years until his death in 2006.

Doris was a 1952 graduate of the Lewisburg High School.

She had been employed by Philco for 30 years.

She was a member of the New Hope Lutheran Brethren Church, Lewisburg.

Doris enjoyed baking, cooking, crocheting and embroidery. She loved to make blankets and hats for babies in the hospital.      

She is survived by two sons, Anthony Dale Caris, of New Columbia, and Roger Lee Caris, of Signal Hill, Calif.; two granddaughters, Hayle Alexandra Caris and Erica Ann Caris; one half brother, Gary Dean Bollinger, of Penn Furnace; and two half sisters, Julie Bollinger Jones, of San Diego, Calif., and Ann Marie Bosworth, of Columbus, Ohio.

She was preceded in death by two sons, Scot Alan Caris and Michael Eugene Caris; and one brother, Lloyd William LaForm.

A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in Highland Cemetery, New Columbia, with her pastor, the Rev. David McCarty officiating.
