Myrtle V. Kriger, 95, Richfield

— RICHFIELD — Myrtle Viola Kriger, 95, of Richfield, entered into eternal rest on Monday, Dec. 16, 2013, at the Richfield Senior Living & Rehabilitation Center.

Known as “Viola,” she was born Oct. 24, 1918, in Freeburg, a daughter of the late William H. and Mary A. (Jarrett) Harman. She was married to Philip E. “Phil” Kriger, who preceded her on March 5, 1984.

Viola was a 1937 graduate of Freeburg High School.

She retired as a seamstress. She formerly was employed at various sewing factories in the Easton area and for Nite Kraft Corp., Sunbury.

She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Richfield, where she was an active member of the Women’s Evangelical Lutheran Church Association. She formerly was affiliated with St. John’s Lutheran Church, Phillipsburg, N.J.

Viola enjoyed watching TV, playing checkers and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Audrey and John Renninger, of Richfield; two granddaughters, Cindy Ross and Judy McCoy and husband Dennis; four great-grandchildren, Ian Ross, Camille Ross, Kaitlyn McCoy and Michaela McCoy; and one nephew, William “Bill” Cobel, of Easton.

She was preceded by a grandson, Ricky Renninger, and one sister, Beatrice Cobel.

Friends and family are invited to the viewing from 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday at the George P. Garman Funeral Homes Inc., 9366 Route 35, Mount Pleasant Mills, followed by the funeral at 2 with her pastor, the Rev. Andrew C. Weaver, officiating, assisted by Pastor Aaron Benner. Following the service, those in attendance are invited to a fellowship meal in St. John Lutheran Church, Richfield.

Private burial will be held on Monday in Northampton Memorial Shrine, Easton.

The family would like to thank the caregivers, who provided assistance in Viola’s home, and the staff of the Richfield Senior Living and Rehabilitation Center for the loving care of their mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
