SUNBURY — Dorothy A. Bennick, 81, of Sunbury, formerly of 21 Amy St., passed away on Monday, Jan. 6, 2014, at 5:20 a.m. in Manor Care, Sunbury, where she had been a guest for two years. She had been a resident of Sunbury since 1954 and previously resided in Danville.
She was born March 24, 1932, in Danville, a daughter of the late Roy B. and Catherine (Murphy) Rudy. On Feb. 13, 1954, in St. Joseph’s Church, Danville, she married Daniel P. Bennick Sr., who preceded her in death on Feb. 15, 1996.
She was educated in St. Joseph’s School, Danville, and was a member of St. Monica Church, Sunbury.
Dorothy was a homemaker and enjoyed walking and sitting and talking with her neighbors.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Daniel P. and Raelene Bennick Jr., and Mark A. and Cindy Bennick, all of Sunbury; four grandchildren, Shawn, Troy, Nicholas and Thomas; one great-granddaughter; three sisters, Jane Beagle, of Danville, Victoria Robins, of Potts Grove, and Margaret Buss, of Turbotville; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, John and William Rudy, and one sister, Irene Mazell.
There will be no viewing. Friends and relatives are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Monica Church, Sunbury, with Monsignor William Richardson as celebrant.
Burial will be in Pomfret Manor Cemetery.
Funeral arrangements are by the Olley-Gotlob Funeral Home, 539 Race St., Sunbury.
