KLINGERSTOWN — Elizabeth I. “Bette” Dietrich, 83, of Klingerstown, a resident of Friendly Nursing Home, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2014, at the Friendly Home.
Elizabeth was born in Frackville on Jan. 19, 1930, the daughter of the late Howard and Mary (Starr) Maurer.
She was a factory worker for various local factories and last worked as a cook at the Friendly Home in Pitman.
She was a member of Salem Church, of Rough and Ready.
She also was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and Woodmen of the World, of Pitman, was active with Mahantongo Helping Hands and local Boy Scouts and 4-H groups and was a member of the Klingerstown Fire Company and an officer with the ILGWU Union.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter H. “Junior” Dietrich, who died Aug. 14, 2007.
Elizabeth is survived by three daughters and one son-in-law, Donna and Harold Zimmerman, of Pitman, Dianne E. Park, of Indiana, and Denise E. Dietrich, of Sacramento, Pa.; one son, Donald E. Dietrich, of Klingerstown; one brother and sister-in-law, Ronald “Ketser” and Patty Maurer, of Klingerstown; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Maurer, who was lost at sea in WWII, and an infant daughter.
The viewing will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at Salem Church of Rough and Ready, Klingerstown, where the funeral will follow at 3 with the Rev. Mark Rothermel officiating.
Burial will follow in Salem Cemetery.
