F. Ellen Armes, 76, New Berlin

— NEW BERLIN — F. Ellen Armes, 76, of Murray Lane, went to be with her Lord at 1:54 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2014, at her home.

She was born Feb. 11, 1937, in Marion, Ind., a daughter of the late Paul J. and Miriam (Mason) Fields. On Jan. 1, 1957, she married James H. Armes, who preceded her in death on Feb. 20, 1988.

Ellen was a homemaker.

She attended Mountain Road God’s Missionary Church, Penns Creek.

She was a wonderful cook and had a real passion for Jewish history. She will be remembered for her love for the Lord.

Ellen is survived by two daughters and one son-in-law, Cathleen L. and Reuben Brubaker, of New Berlin, with whom she lived, and Alisa J. Gemberling, of Mount Pleasant Mills; one son and daughter-in-law, Christopher S. and Karen Armes, of Middleburg; four grandchildren, Shannon Armes, Michelle Gingrich, Stephanie Burr and James Kinsey; 12 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Marcia Stoker, of Arizona, and Pansy Kay Fields, of Indiana; and one brother, Paul J. Fields II, of Factoryville.

She was preceded in death by one son, Robert Armes, in 1972, and two grandsons, Ryan Brubaker and Christopher Armes.

Friends and family will be received from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at Mountain Road God’s Missionary Church, Penns Creek, followed by the funeral at 3 with the Rev. Greg Hobelman and the Rev. Barry Mason officiating.

Burial will be on Tuesday in Jefferson Cemetery, Upland, Ind.

Contributions in Ellen’s memory may be made to the World Missions Department, God’s Missionary Church, in care of Andrew Cooley, treasurer, 109 Evergreen Lane, Spring Mills, PA 16875.

Arrangements are by the Hummel Funeral Home, 574 Hill St., Middleburg.
