BEAVERTOWN — Frederick D. Nevel, 85, of Beavertown, formerly of Hellertown, passed away on Saturday, March 15, 2014.
He was born in Berwick, a son of the late Elmer and Laura (Kittle) Nevel. He was the beloved husband of the former Marian Nause. The couple was married 61 years last May.
Frederick served his country honorably in the Army during the Korean War.
He was a member of St. Theresa of the Child Jesus Catholic Church, Hellertown, and a member of the American Legion, Post 397, Hellertown.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Dennis and Susan, of Easton and Gary and Kathy, of Selinsgrove; one brother, Harold, of Hazelton; grandchildren, Tiffany Porter, of Huntersville, N.C.; Chad Nevel, of Kutztown, and Eric and Megan Nevel, both of Easton; and four great-grandchildren, Addison, Austin, Emma and Grayson Porter.
He was preceded in death by six siblings, Franklin, Loren, Laura, Bernadine, Edward, and Vera.
A viewing will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Friday and from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Saturday in the Falk Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1418 Main St., Hellertown. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Theresa Catholic Church, 1408 Easton Road, Hellertown.
Interment with military honors will follow Mass in Holy Saviour Cemetery, Bethlehem.
