Joann E. Fasold, 83, Northumberland

NORTHUMBERLAND — Joann E. Fasold, 83, of Old Danville Highway, passed away Friday, June 7, 2013, at Nottingham Village, Northumberland.

She was born June 15, 1929, in Sunbury, a daughter of the late George and Miriam (Mentzer) Swope. On Sept. 27, 1952, she married Donald R. Fasold who preceded her in death on Feb. 18, 2001.

Joann was a 1947 graduate of Sunbury High School and then attended beauty school.

She was a licensed beautician and also worked at Fasold Brothers and retired after many years of service as their secretary.

She was a very active member of Christ United Methodist Church, Northumberland where she played the bells, sang in the choir, and taught Sunday school. She was a member of the Priestly Chapter 423 Order of the Eastern Star, Northumberland.

Joann loved sports and was an avid Philadelphia Phillies, Eagles and Penn State fan. She enjoyed playing the piano, painting ceramics, camping, archery hunting, and spending time with her Sunbury Owls classmates. Earlier in life, she and her husband enjoyed square dancing with the Penn Wheelers and their friends, Frank and Sharon Wert, of Milton. She was a wonderful grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by two sons and one daughter-in-law, T.G. Fasold and Timothy R. and Debora Fasold, all of Northumberland; four granddaughters, Diane Fasold Marro and husband, Joe, Amie Fasold Longacre and husband, Rob, and Dawn and Terra Fasold; six great-grandchildren, Gianna and Isabella Marro, Hayleigh, Adyln and Lauryn Longacre, and Janessa Johnson; and one brother-in-law and two sisters-in-law, Jack E. and Faith I. Fasold, and Beverly J. Lenker, all of Northumberland.

She was preceded in death by one son, Terry R. Fasold on March 18, 1986; one brother, J. Russell Swope; and brother-in-law, Leon Lenker.

Friends and family will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Joseph W. Epler Funeral Home, 210 King St., Northumberland. A funeral service will be conducted at noon Wednesday at Christ United Methodist Church, Front and King streets, Northumberland. A visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to noon prior to the service.

Burial will be in Pomfret Manor Cemetery, Sunbury.
