BELLEFONTE — Ryan J. Keresey, 28, of Bellefonte, passed away on Wednesday, April 24, 2013, at Mount Nittany Medical Center after a long and courageous journey with cancer.
He was born in Altoona, a son of David W. Keresey and the late Mary M. (Marhefka) Keresey. On Oct. 24, 2009, he married Holly Sheaffer, who survives.
Ryan was a 2003 graduate of Altoona Area High School and attended Pennsylvania College of Technology.
He previously was a Pennsylvania state constable and a diesel mechanic.
Ryan was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Bellefonte.
He enjoyed hunting, going to Penn State tailgates, rooting for Notre Dame and the Altoona Curve and working in his cousin’s blacksmith shop.
In addition to his wife and father, he is survived by one brother, Daniel P. Keresey and his fiancee, Barb Bordell, of Altoona; one sister and brother-in-law, Rachael A. and Michael Lenhart, of Altoona; a brother-in-law, Kirby Frymoyer, of Kreamer; two nieces, Caitlyn and Madison; two nephews, Blaze and Seth; maternal grandmother, Jane Marhefka, of Mifflintown; mother-in-law, Wanda Graybill, of Mount Pleasant Mills; and his beloved cat, Hope.
He was preceded in death by his mother; father-in-law, Samuel Graybill Jr.; paternal grandparents, William and Cleo Keresey; and maternal grandfather, Frank Marhefka.
Friends will be received from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday in the Stevens Mortuary Inc., 1421 Eighth Ave., Altoona, where a vigil for the deceased will be held. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church.
Committal will be in Calvary Cemetery.
