SELINSGROVE — Charles A. Witmer, 82, of South Third Street, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, April 25, 2013, at his home.
He was born May 20, 1930, in Selinsgrove, a son of the late Walter and Florence (Schrader) Witmer. He married Mary (Musser) Witmer, who preceded him in death in 1960. He later married his wife of 51 years, the former Marian I. McKinney, who preceded him in death on Jan. 10, 2013.
Charles was a 1948 graduate of Selinsgrove High School.
He previously had been employed at Groce’s Silk Mill in Selinsgrove and later at Fromm Security.
Charles enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, going to the auction, playing solitaire and taking his dog, King, for rides.
Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Carolyn and Danny Bordner, of Sunbury, and Lisa and Paige Caudill, of Middleburg; one son, Steven Witmer, of Selinsgrove; six grandchildren, Brenda McLeod, Amy Spade, Steven Witmer Jr., Amy Fultz, Lynn Shirk and Laura Fegley; 12 great-grandchildren and one more expected; three brothers, Raymond, James and Bobby Witmer; and one sister, Nancy McKinney.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, George and Walter Witmer.
Friends and family will be received from 2:30 to 3 p.m. Sunday at Grace Covenant Church, Middleburg, where the funeral will follow at 3 with Pastor Arden Steiner officiating.
Burial will follow in Union Cemetery, Selinsgrove.
