MIDDLEBURG — Alton L. Fuhrman, 65, of Raliegh Avenue, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, April 25, 2013.
He was born on Dec. 16, 1947, in Lewisburg, a son of the late James L. and Florence (Bingaman) Fuhrman.
Alton was a 1965 graduate of Middleburg High School.
After high school he served in the Navy with the “Seabee’s” during Vietnam.
He was employed through the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare at the Selinsgrove Center in the transportation department.
Mr. Fuhrman was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Middleburg.
Alton was also a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 1229 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5640 in Middleburg.
He was an avid sprint car far and tremendously enjoyed caring for his “critters”.
Surviving are his significant other, Joyce Madara, of Middleburg; one son, James D. Fuhrman, of Beaver Springs; three sisters, Lila Kuhns, Sandra Northrup and Nancy Erdley and her husband Mike; one stepson, Mark Madara and wife Nichole; two stepdaughters, Tracy Pickett and Tiffany Madara; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
Burial with military honors will be in the Troxelville Union Cemetery.
Arrangements are by the Hummel Funeral Home, 574 Hill St., Middleburg.
