John F. Crabb, 74, Milton

MILTON — John Franklin Crabb, 74, of Milton, passed away Friday afternoon, April 26, 2013, at his home.

He was born Aug. 9, 1938, in Buffalo Crossroads, a son of the late Marvin and Hattie (Nogle) Crabb. On March 19, 1966, he married the former Bonnie Smith who survives.  Together they shared 47 years of marriage.

John was a 1956 graduate of Montandon High School. John served in the Army and was a veteran of the Vietnam War.

He previously worked for the former Montgomery Mills and retired from Chef Boyardee, now Con-Agra, Milton.

He was a member of the Kratzer Dull American Legion Post 182, Lewisburg, and the Milton Eagles.

John played and coached many years of fast pitch softball for Forest Hill. He enjoyed shuffle board, bowling, and watching the New York Yankees. He especially enjoyed watching his daughter and granddaughter play sports. He was a very hard worker who loved his family and had a special fondness for his two boxer dogs, BJ and Casey.

Surviving in addition to his wife, Bonnie, are two daughters, Shirley Heimbach and her companion, Brad Templin, and Cathy Kime and her husband, Raine Kime, all of Milton; three grandchildren who were his pride and joy, Devin Heimbach, and Jonathan and Sydney Kime, all of Milton; one nephew and wife whom he thought of as his own children, Terry and Evonne Crabb, of Milton; one brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Donna Crabb, of Allenwood; and one niece and numerous nephews.

He was predeceased by one brother, Marvin Crabb.

At John’s request there will be no public viewing. Burial with full military honors will be held at the convenience of the family in Montandon Cemetery on Monday, April 29, 2013.  Officiating will be Rev. James Lewis of Montandon United Methodist Church.
