COAL TOWNSHIP — Lewis G. Hubler, 78, of 1812 Park Ave., went to heaven on Monday, April 8, 2013.
He was born Feb. 7, 1935, in Derry Township, Mifflin County, a son of the late Jacob and Willa (Narehood) Hubler. On July 3, 1970, in Salem Reformed Church, Shamokin, he married the former Sherry Nahodil, who survives.
Lew attended Middleburg High School.
He had worked as a truck driver, as a bus driver for Catawese Coach and then a driver for Paul’s Cab, of Sunbury.
Lew was a kind and gentle man. He loved his family and was loved by everyone who knew him.
In addition to his wife of 42 years, he is survived by one son, Brian Hubler; three daughters, Lisa Jo Smith, Sherry Martini and Donna Hubler; one son-in-law; Robert Smith; one daughter-in-law; Lynn Hubler; two brothers, Dewey and Francis Hubler; one sister, Darlene Brink; grandchildren, Ryan and Ruth Smith, Rebecca Smith, Justin and Justine Holloway, Peter and Elena Martini, Steven Martini, Ashley and Brian A. Hubler, Justin Suerken, Jessica Suerken and Austin Irizarry; great-grandchildren, Tyler and Kaitlyn Holloway and Michael and Mia Martini; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Audrey Karchner and Della Hubler, and three brothers, Cleveland, Clarence and Forrest Hubler.
A visitation will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Friday in Elysburg Alliance Church, 113 Alpha Ave., Elysburg, followed by a celebration of life at 3.
Committal services will be private at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting contributions be made to Elysburg Alliance Church.
The Leonard J. Lucas Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
