SELINSGROVE — Miriam Jane “Mim” Troutman, 91, of Grayson View Court, Selinsgrove, passed away with her family by her side on Monday evening, April 8, 2013, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
She was born Jan. 18, 1922, in Washington Township, Snyder County, a daughter of the late John Simon and Joyce E. (Freed) Lenker. She was married to Chester H. Troutman, who preceded her on Feb. 26, 2009.
Miriam was a 1940 graduate of Freeburg High School and faithfully attended the school reunions every year.
She worked for the former Moyer Restaurant, Freeburg, sold baby strollers door to door, worked for the Wirt Funeral Home, Sunbury, and Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, owned and operated her own beauty shop, worked at Bogar’s Lumber Co., Selinsgrove, as a secretary, and lastly assisted her husband with Troutman’s Meat Market.
She was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Middleburg, and was active with the Selinsgrove Senior Center.
Miriam enjoyed traveling with her husband and friends, spending winters in Florida and at their cabin along the Susquehanna River in Point Township, and playing cards with her friends at the Selinsgrove Senior Center.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Ronald and Deborah Troutman, of Middleburg; one daughter, Joyce Troutman and her companion, Larry Witmer, of Middleburg; one grandson, Aaron Troutman; one sister, Shirley Ferster, of Freeburg; one brother and sister-in-law, Marvin and Joann Lenker, of Richfield; one sister-in-law, Naomi Lenker, of Richfield; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded by one brother, John Lenker, and one nephew, John Lenker Jr.
There will be no viewing. A celebration of life service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 100 E. Main St., Middleburg, followed by a time of fellowship. Officiating will be her pastor, the Rev. William D. Jones.
Burial will be private in Evergreen Cemetery, Freeburg.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Selinsgrove Senior Center, 8 Water St., Selinsgrove, PA 17870, or to the Emmanuel Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, 100 E. Main St., Middleburg, PA 17842.
