SELINSGROVE — Elmer S. Groce Sr., 90, of South High Street, passed away at 7:51 p.m. Sunday, April 7, 2013, at the Sunbury Community Hospital.
He was born July 8, 1922, in Kreamer, a son of the late Joseph and Arletto A. (Miller) Groce. On April 1, 1950, he married the former Geraldine M. Clark who survives. They celebrated a marital union of 63 years.
Elmer was a graduate of Selinsgrove High School and served in the Army during World War II.
Elmer was employed for 39 years doing circuitry work for Continental Phone Co., Selinsgrove.
He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, Selinsgrove, a member of the American Legion Post 25, Selinsgrove, a life member of Rooster’s Corner Sportsman’s Club, and DH&L Fire Co., Selinsgrove.
In his spare time, Elmer enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Elmer S. Groce Jr., of Selinsgrove; two grandchildren, Travis and Shannon; and one sister, Treva Treon.
Elmer was preceded in death by four brothers.
At his request, services will be private.
Burial will be in the Orchard Hills Cemetery, Shamokin Dam.
