PORT TREVORTON — Howard Hill, 81, of Port Trevorton and New Buffalo, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 23, 2012, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
He was born April 3, 1931, in Shamokin, the son of the late Joseph and Doris (Fessler) Hill. He was the husband of Lucille Hill, who preceded him in death.
Howard served in the Air Force, a veteran of the Korean War.
He was a police officer in Elizabethville for a number of years. Following his retirement, he worked as a bartender at the Rivera Tavern.
Howard was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 255 and a member of American Legion Post 340, Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 12 and the Newport Order of Owls.
Surviving his memory is his companion, Faye Hoover; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Wayne and Carole Hill, of Halifax, and Ronald Hill, of Harrisburg; one sister, Shirley Spahr, of Shermans Dale; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A visitation will take place from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Ronald C.L. Smith Funeral Home, Duncannon, followed by a memorial service to celebrate his life at 2 with the Rev. Joseph Cowen officiating.
