Lee F. Yost, 80, Milton

MILTON — Lee F. Yost, 80, of Milton, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013, after a brief illness at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, surrounded by his family.

He was born Sept. 3, 1932, in White Deer, a son of the late Lee Foster and Mary Cathrine (Wetzel) Yost. On Dec. 23, 1950, he married the former Darlas A. Showers, who survives at home. They celebrated 62 years of marriage.

Lee was a graduate of Milton High School and served in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard during the Korean War. He obtained the rank of motor sergeant with the HQ CO 3D BN109 Infantry 1950 and received the Occupation Medal (Germany).

He was employed as a general foreman at ACF Industries, retiring in 1994 after 35 years of service. He then worked part-time for Roan Auctioneers Inc. for 10 years.

Lee was a member of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, Milton, where he served on various committees as well as being an usher. He was a member of Lodge 256, Free & Accepted Masons, where he was a 32nd-degree Mason and received his 50-year service pin. He also was a member of Temple Corps, where he served as secretary, American Legion Post 71, where he received his 50-year service pin, Chef Silver and Gold and the Milton Fire Department’s Fifth Ward Hose Company, which he joined in 1952 and obtained his life membership in 1977. He was a driver for the Milton Ambulance Association for more than 30 years and belonged to the Milton Fire Police for more than 30 years. He loved his children and grandchildren and enjoyed traveling with his wife, hunting, tinkering in the garage and following “breaking news” in his tablet computer. In his younger years, he farmed with his family and neighbors.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert W. and Bonnie Yost, of Indianapolis, Ind., and David N. and Evelyn Yost, of Milton; one daughter and two sons-in-law, Leesa and John Blankert, of Columbia, S.C., and Donald “Don” Fisher, of Milton; seven grandchildren, Michael Bankert and wife Rhiannon, of Fishers, Ind., Jason Blankert and wife Teresa, of Danville, Jessica Yost, of Milesburg, Julie LaNunziata and husband Joe, of Loveland, Ohio, Eric Fisher and wife Kylie, of Tunkhannock, Ashley Fox and husband Jason, of Milton, and Michelle Yost, of Indianapolis; three great-grandchildren, Salvitor LaNunziata, Gianna Bankert and Isaac Bankert; four brothers and sisters-in-law, James G. and Pat Yost, of Watsontown, William T. and Letty Yost, of Watsontown, Raymond N. and Evelyn Yost, of Ontario, Canada, and Harry T. and Mary Yost, of New Columbia; and two sisters and one brother-in-law, Jean Zettlemoyer and Virginia and Leroy Reidle, all of New Columbia.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Laurie L. Fisher.

A gathering of friends will take place from noon to 1 Friday at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1125 Mahoning St., Milton, followed by the funeral at 1 with Pastor Pat Pittsnogle officiating.

Burial with military honors will follow in Highland Cemetery, New Columbia.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Lee’s memory may be made to Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church or a charity of the donor’s choice.
