LEWISBURG — Mildred E. McCracken, 96, of 321 N. Fourth St., formerly of 1213 W. Fern St., Coal Township, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 19, 2013, at RiverWoods, Lewisburg.
She was born April 25, 1917, a daughter of the late Edward and Isabella (Benson) Heitzman. She was the last to survive of 11 children. Mildred married the late Reese McCracken in 1935 at her mother’s home on West Fern Street, Coal Township.
Mildred lived a full and happy life. She was a deeply faith-filled woman and a spiritual inspiration to all who knew her. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, an avid reader and an accomplished pianist.
Mildred was a lifelong resident of Coal Township until the age of 93 when she moved to Lewisburg to reside with her daughter. During these last few years, Mildred acquired many new friends and was able to be actively involved with her family until her passing.
Mildred will be lovingly missed. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Isabel and Alfred Hummel, of Hummelstown, and Judy and Dr. John Albright, of Lewisburg; five grandsons, Reese Hummel and his wife, Lavone; John Albright, and his wife Peggy; Dr. Thomas Albright, and his wife Keri; Andrew Albright and his wife Nicole; and was preceded in death by a fifth grandson, Daniel K. Hummel. Mildred had seven great-grandchildren, Daniel Jacob Hummel, Evan Hummel, Sean Albright, Shannon Albright, Chloe Albright, Brandi Albright and Drew Albright, in addition to numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, parents, and one grandson, Mildred was preceded in death by her 10 siblings.
A visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at Beaver Memorial United Methodist Church, 42 S. Third St., Lewisburg, followed by the funeral at 11.
Burial will follow in Odd Fellow’s Cemetery, Coal Township.
