Clara C. Stuck, 78, Mount Pleasant Mills

MOUNT PLEASANT MILLS — Clara Catherine (Burkey) Stuck, 78, of Mount Pleasant Mills, entered into rest at 1:40 a.m. Monday, April 22, 2013, at the Manor at Penn Village, Selinsgrove, where she lived since January.

She was born Oct. 16, 1934, in Herndon, a daughter of the late Harvey J. and Mary Ann Carrie (Lahr) Burkey. On March 21, 1964, she married Lester E. Stuck, who preceded her on Nov. 1, 2003, breaking a loving marital union of 39 years.

Clara attended the Urban Elementary one-room schoolhouse and graduated from Mahanoy Joint High School, Dalmatia.

Clara worked at the Pillow Shirt factory and Rolling Green Park. She later worked and owned side by side with her husband Lester E. Stuck Building Supplies, Mount Pleasant Mills. She also was a housewife, loving mom and gram.

Clara attended St. John’s Lutheran Church, Mount Pleasant Mills. She also was treasurer of the Mount Pleasant Mills Civic Club and was known for her doughnut making. She was a volunteer leader for the Houtz 4-H Club for many years and a former volunteer with the Freeburg Boy Scouts.

Everyone knew Clara as “Mom Stuck” and was affectionately known as “Auntie” by her nieces and nephews. Clara enjoyed cross stitch, gardening, picking strawberries, quilting and baking her famous chocolate chip cookies and apple pies. She loved spending time with her kids and grandkids and teaching them all how to cook and bake.

Clara is survived by her four loving children; son David E. Stuck and his wife, Tonyah, and their four children, Ashley M. Stuck and her fiance, Aaron Dressler, Courtney C. Stuck, Jackey A. Stuck and Dustin L. Stuck, of Mount Pleasant Mills; daughters, Jean M. Fawver and her husband, Shane, and their children, Kyle C. Fawver, Amber E. Fawver and Bryce M. Fawver, of Mount Pleasant Mills, Cindy E. Colyer and her husband, Robin, and their two children, Joseph N. Colyer and Cameron A. Colyer, of Selinsgrove, and Carol H. Stuck, of Mount Pleasant Mills; one brother, William Burkey, of Selinsgrove; and two sisters-in-law, Sarah Burkey, of Berrysburg, and Sandra Wonsik, of Stonington.

Clara was preceded by two brothers and two sisters-in-law, Clarence and Etheleen Burkey, Henry Burkey and June Burkey; a brother-in-law, Gabriel Wonsik; and a niece, Ruthie Furman.

Friends and family are invited to the visitation from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday and 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, followed by a service of Christian burial at 11, in St. John’s Lutheran Church, Route 35, Mount Pleasant Mills, with her pastor, the Rev. Andrew C. Weaver, officiating.

Burial will be made in Fairview Cemetery, Mount Pleasant Mills.
