MILTON — John A. Jones, 85, of Milton, passed away at 10:45 a.m. Tuesday, April 23, 2013, after a nine year battle with his failing health.
He was born Jan. 10, 1928, in Airville, a son of the late Arthur M. and Gertrude (Miller) Jones.
John served proudly in the Navy during World War II. After his time in the service he attended Stephens Trade School.
He was employed as a foreman for 45 years at PP&L.
John was of the Lutheran faith.
He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4907, Wellsboro and the Elks Lodge 754, Danville.
John enjoyed golfing, going to his hunting camp, was an avid Penn State football fan and especially enjoyed spending time with his family.
He is survived by his devoted companion, Barbara Erdley, of Milton; two daughters and one son-in-law, Valerie Marie and William Stephens, of Guntersville, Ala., and Lorraine Ann Jones, of Spotsylvania, Va.; one daughter-in-law, Janice Jones, of Harrisburg; his former wife, Mary J. (Salzman) Daniels, of Selinsgrove; three sisters, Mary Thompson, of Lancaster, Mildred Dabler, of Willow Street, and Jane Barr, of Lancaster.
He was preceded in death by one son, Stephen J. Jones in 2004, and one sister, Evelyn Frey.
Friends and family will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the V.L. Seebold Funeral Home, 601 N. High St., Selinsgrove, followed by the funeral at 11 with the Rev. Wayne C. Muthler officiating.
Interment will be at a later date in St. John’s Cemetery, Port Trevorton.
