Eldore A. Hanni, 86, Winfield

— WINFIELD — Eldore A. Hanni, 86, of Winfield, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 24, 2012, at his home.

He was born in Mayville, Wis., on Feb. 15, 1926, a son of the late Gottfried and Ruth (Radke) Hanni. His first wife, Arlene M. Streblow, preceded him in death on May 25, 1995. He married Beverly J. Moore on June 21, 1997.

Eldore served his country in the Army during World War II in the European Theater and the Battle of the Bulge.

He started the Penn Cheese business in 1972 and was still working making raw milk cheese for Farmstead Fresh Cheese for the last five years.

He was a member of Brookside Ministries and was very knowledgeable about nutrition and taught classes in that area.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children and their spouses, Lenore R. and William Spade, of New Berlin, Gloria C. and Steve Wadzinski, of Boulder, Colo., and Paul A. and Jennifer A. Hanni, of Manassas, Va.; nine grandchildren, Troy, Scott, Keven, Brenda, Amy, Joshua, Jerod, Joyce and John; 12 great-grandchildren; one stepson, Dr. Michael Shaft, of Harrisburg; seven stepgrandchildren; three stepgreat-grandchildren; one brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Delores Hanni, of Ironridge, Wis.; one sister and brother-in-law, Doris and Harold Muche, of Maryville, Wis.; and extended family in Wisconsin and Switzerland.

He was preceded in death by one son, Robert E. Hanni, in March 2002, and one brother, Norbert Hanni, in 2010.

Friends may call from 10 to 11:45 a.m. Saturday at Brookside Ministries, followed by the funeral at noon with the Rev. Jerry Helman officiating.

Burial will be in New Berlin Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Bibles of the World, P.O. Box 49759, Colorado Springs, CO 80949-9759.

Arrangements were made by the David T. Zweier Funeral Home Inc., 157 Chestnut St., Sunbury.
