Caroline J. “Carol” (Shaffer) Guinn-Bailey, 72, Lewisburg

LEWISBURG — Caroline J. “Carol” (Shaffer) Guinn-Bailey, 72, of Lewisburg, formerly of Milton, passed away on Saturday, March 30, 2013, at her home.

She was born Aug. 30, 1940, in Milton and was raised on Chestnut Street, a daughter of the late John Bryan and Mary (Stevenson) Shaffer. On Nov. 28, 1980, she married Robert Lee “Bob” Guinn-Bailey, and they celebrated 20 years together until his death on Feb. 29, 2000.

Caroline was a 1958 graduate of Milton Area High School.

She was employed by the Milton Shoe factory, then went on to work at the Milton Elementary School as a custodian, retiring in 2002.

Caroline attended Christ Temple Apostolic Church, Milton. She was a member of American Legion Woman’s Auxiliary Post 325.

Caroline enjoyed playing games, listening to country music, watching Penn State football, and most of all, visiting with her friends and family.

She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Troy M. and Sara Guinn-Bailey, and one grandson, Conor Robert Guinn-Bailey, all of West Caldwell, N.J.; and numerous nieces and nephews, including the following, Laverne Apple, of Sunbury, Carol Day, of Muncy, Becky Harding, of Danville, John Apple, of Northumberland, Willie Thomas, of Cogan Station, AJ Benfer, of Muncy, Di Franck, of Milton, Rhoda Chamberlain, of Milton, Faith King, of New Columbia, Beth Stackhouse, of Williamsport, and Kevin Shaffer, of Danville.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, John Shaffer and Milton Shaffer, and four sisters, Doreen Wilson, Jennie Harris, Bessie Apple and Sharon Shaffer.

A public viewing will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, followed by the funeral at 11, in the Dale E. Ranck Funeral Service, 125 N. Front St., Milton, with evangelist Denny Moore officiating.

Burial will follow in Harmony Cemetery, Milton.
