DANVILLE — Paul A. Griffiths, 90, of Danville, and a guest of Emmanuel Nursing Center, passed away on Saturday, April 6, 2013, at Emmanuel.
He was born Sept. 26, 1922, in Utica, N.Y., a son of the late Robert L. and Catherine (Miller) Griffiths. He was married for 50 years to the former Nell Diekman who preceded him in death 1995. Subsequently, he married the former Dorothea (Maher) Williamson who died in 2007.
You may remember Paul from his poodle, Andy, having performed shows for many groups in the area.
Paul served in the Army and was a veteran of World War II.
After his service, he worked at Merck & Co. as a chemical engineer, moving from Rahway, N.J. to the Cherokee Plant in Riverside in 1952 until he retired in 1987.
Paul was a lifetime member of the Kiwanis Club of Danville for which he served as secretary and treasurer for many years.
He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, John A. and Brenda Griffiths, of Massachusetts; one daughter, Wanda LaVan, of Illinois; one grandson, Scott LaVan; one great-grandson, Christopher Scott LaVan; one sister, Mary Halsted, of New York; and one brother, John E. Griffiths, of Delaware.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Catherine Driscoll, of Texas; and two brothers, Robert L. Griffiths, of New Jersey and William Griffiths, of New York.
Friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the Brady Funeral Home, 320 Church St., Danville, followed by the funeral at 11 with the Rev. Edmund Minnich, officiating.
A private burial will follow funeral services.
