SUNBURY — Dorothy Mae Ravert, 87, of Sunbury, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 18, 2013, in Sunbury Community Hospital.
She was born May 7, 1926, in Shamokin Dam, a daughter of the late Anna Schreffler Walter and Thaddeus Schreffler. On July 2, 1948, she married Nelson O. Ravert, who survives. Her death breaks a marital union of 65 years.
Dorothy was a 1946 graduate of Sunbury High School.
She was employed at Wilson Manufacturing and retired from the Rea & Derick warehouse.
Dorothy was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Northumberland.
She enjoyed the church services, songs and fellowship of the Riverfront Apartments.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Stacey and Roger Bressler; one son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Steven and Connie Ravert; grandchildren, Nicholas Bressler and his wife, Jennifer, Kristy Madison and her husband, Douglas, Ann Ravert J.D., Steven J. Ravert and Dr. Marianne Ravert Peacock and husband, Timothy; two great-grandchildren, Lucy and Olivia Bressler; and siblings. Dr. Jack Schreffler and wife, Joyce, Betty Yordy, and George W. Schreffler, and sister-in-law, Helen Schreffler.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Robert T. Schreffler, and sister-in-law, Pat Schreffler.
Friends will be received from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday in the Jerre Wirt Blank Funeral Home, 395 State St., Sunbury, followed by the funeral at 2.
Burial will be in Northumberland Memorial Park, Stonington.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Dorothy’s memory may be made to the Salvation Army, Child Evangelism or a charity of the donor’s choice.
