NEW COLUMBIA — Marlene H. Zeiber, 77, of 224 Zeiber Lane, passed away on Wednesday morning, Sept. 4, 2013, at the Evangelical Community Hospital.
A native of Milton, she was born Oct. 31, 1935, a daughter of the late Howard and Grace (Showers) Hendershot. She was married to James Zeiber and her death breaks a marital union of 52 years.
Marlene was a 1953 graduate of Milton High School and a 1957 graduate of the Geisinger School of Nursing.
She was first employed at the Bucknell Dispensary as a nurse, then was a dedicated nurse for Dr. Arbogast for many years, delivering many babies in the Union County area.
She was a member of the New Hope Lutheran Brethren Church of Lewisburg, a member of the Union County Medical Society, Business and Professional Women, and the Red Hat Society.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Curt and Roxanne Zeiber and Scott and Hope Zeiber, all of New Columbia; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one borhter, Howard J. Hendershot, of West Milton; and one sister, Ida Mae Eister, of Sunbury.
She was preceded in death by four brothers and sisters, Eugene Hendershot, Ruth Hyde, Lucille Kichman and Roland Hendershot.
Friends and relatives will be received from 9 to 10 a.m. Monday at New Hope Lutheran Brethren Church, Lewisburg, followed by a memorial service at 10 with her pastor, the Rev. David McCarty officiating.
The family will provide flowers and asks that donations in Marlene’s memory be made to the New Hope Lutheran Brethren Church, 205 S. 14th St., Lewisburg, PA 17837.
Funeral arrangements are by the John H. Shaw III Funeral Home, Market and Eighth streets, Lewisburg.
