SELINSGROVE — Grant U. Duttry, 87, of Selinsgrove, passed away at 12:45 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 8, 2013, at the Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg. He had been admitted to the hospital from the Manor at Penn Village, Selinsgrove where he had lived since March of 2009.
He was born Jan. 24, 1926, in Herndon, a son of the late Jacob W. Duttry and Laura A. (Hollenbach) Duttry Leslie. On Nov. 6, 1948, he married the former Erma B. Hollenbach who survives.
Grant was a graduate of the Herndon High School and was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Navy aboard the USS Charles Carroll. He was awarded the Asiatic Pacific Medal, the American Area Medal and the World War II Victory Medal.
He had been employed by Wilbert Burial Vault, Selinsgrove, TRW, Danville, and retired from AMP Inc., Selinsgrove.
He was a member of Salem Lutheran Church, where he had served as Sunday school superintendent and church treasurer for many years. He was a member of the American Legion Post 25 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6631, both of Selinsgrove.
Grant enjoyed bowling and camping and being with his family and friends.
In addition to his wife of 64 years, he is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia and Don Treas, of Selinsgrove; two sons and one daughter-in-law, David A. Duttry, of Selinsgrove, and Darvin J. and Susan Duttry, of Bloomsburg; four grandchildren, Colleen Baker, Crystal Dawson, and Derek and Allie Duttry; three great-grandchildren, Curtis and Kaycie Baker, and Aubrey Dawson; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Samuel and Elmer Duttry, and one sister, Betty Parrish; and one great-granddaughter, Kelsi Leigh
Friends and family will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the V.L. Seebold Funeral Home, 601 N. High St., Selinsgrove, where the funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday with the Rev. Amanda K. Range officiating.
Burial will be in the Salem Lutheran Church Cemetery with military honors with American Legion Post 25 and V.F.W. Post 6631.
