SUNBURY — Charles Pehowic, 50, of Sunbury, passed away at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, Sunday, Sept. 8, 2013.
Charles was born March 3, 1963, in Sunbury, a son of the late Francis and Joyce (Zerbe) Pehowic.
Charles attended Shikellamy High School where he lettered in bowling.
He was a former altar boy of Saint Monica Church.
He was an active firefighter at the Sunbury Steam Fire Co. # 1, enjoyed fishing and classic country music.
Surviving are his fiancée, Mary Weikel; his children, Amber Stover, of Shamokin, and Heather Pehowic, of Sunbury; stepchildren Heather and Brandon Weikel, both of Shamokin; five grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Francis, William Sr., Robert, Steven, Mary M., John, Thomas and JoAnn; numerous nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and nephews His special great-niece Marlie and his special friend Rick Weikel.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Sunbury Steam Fire Co. # 1 in Sunbury. Richard Simpson will be officiating.
Burial will follow in Pomfret Manor Cemetery, Sunbury.
In lieu of flowers, contributions should be made to the First National Bank of Pa., 11 S. Second St., Sunbury, Pa. 17801, to help defray the funeral expenses, send in care of Sara Pehowic for Charles Pehowic funeral services.
Arrangements are being held by the David T. Zweier Funeral Home Inc., 157 Chestnut St., Sunbury, Pa. 17801.
