— NORTHUMBERLAND — Dorothy J. “Dottie” Krouse, 71, of Strawbridge Road, passed away Thursday, July 18, 2013, at her home.

She was born Oct. 4, 1941, in Sunbury, a daughter of the late William London and Hilda (Wampole) Rovito. On June 21, 1958, she married Miles H. Krouse Sr. who preceded her death on Oct. 19, 2006.

She attended Sunbury schools and was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Sunbury.

Dottie was an active member of the Northumberland/Point Township Senior Action Center, a member of the Northumberland Grange 218, and a former member of the Shikellamy School District PTA. She and her husband, for many years, were den leaders of Cub Scout Troop 3325 of Saint John’s Lutheran Church, Northumberland. They both operated the food concession stand at John Long’s Field in Sunbury for 16 years together and Dottie for 17 years.

She loved spending time with family and friends and loved to vacation, taking several cruises. She was a babysitter to local children for many years in her home.

She is survived by two sons and one daughter-in-law, Miles H. Jr. and Denise Krouse, of Sunbury, Michael A. Krouse and fiance Dottie Giurastante, of Kreamer; one daughter, Michelle L. Higgins, of Northumberland; nine grandchildren, Jasmine, Ashley, Lexie, Kyrie, Karissa, Garrett, Damian, Casey, and Dustin; five great-granddaughters, Sophia, Elizabeth, Baylee, Vanesa, and Nichole; her companion, Donald Sarvis, of Northumberland; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one son in infancy, and three brothers, William, Thomas, and David London.

Friends and family may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Joseph W. Epler Funeral Home, 210 King St., Northumberland, and again from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday where the funeral service will be conducted at 11 with the Rev. D. Elinor Allison officiating.

Interment will be at the convenience of the family in Orchard Hills Cemetery, Shamokin Dam.
