DANVILLE — Alice E. Welliver, 94, a guest of the Emmanuel Nursing Center and a lifelong Danville resident, went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, May 14, 2013, at Emmanuel.
She was born Sept. 14, 1918, in Northumberland, a daughter of the late Lorie and Lillian (Welliver) Yeager.
Alice was a graduate of Danville High School and attended business school.
She was employed by the Danville State Hospital for many years, retiring in 1979.
Alice was a lifetime member of St. Joseph Church, was past president of the Danville Elkettes and was a lifetime member of the Danville Ladies of the Moose. Alice served three terms as the Montour County auditor.
Throughout her life, she enjoyed playing bingo, but her love was taking care of her grandkids.
Alice is survived by her beloved son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Mary Ann Blosky, of Danville; two grandchildren and their spouses, Elizabeth and Robert Cross, of California, and Bernard and Elizabeth (Fausnaught) Blosky, of Hummelstown; five great-grandchildren, Ashley, Josh, Chelesa, Annabelle and Corbin; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Bernard A. Blosky, in 1961, and her second husband, Ira Welliver, in 1995; and three sisters, Dorothy Abramson, Mary Wheeler and Eleanor Parr.
Friends will be received from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Friday in the Brady Funeral Home, 320 Church St., Danville. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Friday in St. Joseph Church, 18 E. Center St., Danville, with her pastor, the Rev. Tri M. Luong, as celebrant.
Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.
The family will provide flowers. Memorial contributions may be made in Alice’s memory to a charity of the donor’s choice.
