Wilma L. Herrold, 84, Selinsgrove

— SELINSGROVE — Wilma L. Herrold, 84, of West Sassafras Street, passed away on Monday morning, Aug. 6, 2012, at her home.

She was born July 2, 1928, in Selinsgrove, a daughter of the late Herman N. and Harriet A. (Snyder) Holtzapple. On June 24, 1950, she was united in marriage to Sterling A. “Doc” Herrold who preceded her in death on Dec. 25, 2011.

Wilma was a 1946 graduate of Selinsgrove High School.

She retired in 1984 from the Selinsgrove Center after 16 years of service.

She was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, Selinsgrove and a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Conrad Weiser Chapter.

Wilma enjoyed gardening, knitting, doing crossword puzzles and was an avid Phillies fan. The great joy of her life were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by two daughters and one son-in-law, Jennifer L. and John Zyry, of Lebanon, and Tracie A. Trawitz, of Sunbury; two granddaughters and their husbands, Tiffani and Jeffrey Balestrini and Koebi and Arlan “Butch” Emerich, all of Sunbury; five great-grandchildren, Cade, Drew and Blaire Balestrini, and Baryn and Tate Emerich; one sister-in-law, Mary Holtzapple, of Selinsgrove; her best friend, Mary Bogar, of Beaver Springs; and three generations of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Angela in infancy; and three brothers, Donald W., Glenn W., and John W. Holtzapple.

Friends and family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the V.L. Seebold Funeral Home, 601 N. High St., Selinsgrove. A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, 400 N. Market St., Selinsgrove with the Rev. Raymond L. Brown  and the Rev. Paul W. Cope, officiating.

Burial will be in the Orchard Hills Cemetery, Shamokin Dam.

Contributions in Wilma’s memory may be made to St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, 400 N. Market St., Selinsgrove, PA 17870.
