MILTON — Mamie R. Swartz, 88, of Mahoning Street, passed away Thursday, June 20, 2013, in Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg.
She was born May 6, 1925, in Limestone Township, a daughter of the late Fredrick and Della (Long) Springer. She and her husband, Ralph H. Swartz Sr., celebrated 57 years of marriage before his passing on March 7, 2009.
Mamie was employed by the Warrior Run School District for 30 years as a cook.
She was a member for more than 60 years of Washingtonville Lutheran Church, where she served as a Sunday school teacher, and she was a member of the Ladies Aid, helping to make food for local banquets.
Mamie loved baking for her family and enjoyed crafts, crocheting and traveling on many bus trips with Ralph around the country.
Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Ralph “Bud” Jr. and Tina Swartz, of Milton, and Robert R. and Trudy Swartz, of West Milton; six grandchildren, Desiree Swartz and Felicia Swartz, both of West Milton, Jennifer Williams and her husband, David, of Hummelstown, Jeffery Groff and his wife, Amanda, of Martinsburg, W.Va., Jason Groff and his wife, Laura, of Mount Joy, and Janelle Groff, of Lewisburg; and six great-grandchildren, Madison, Bailey and Isaac Williams and Evelyn, Alivia and Lennox Groff.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Conrad, Woodrow and Paul Springer, and two sisters, Viola Wolfe and Mildred Baker.
Friends are invited to call from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in the Brooks Funeral Home, 207 Broadway St., Turbotville, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday in Washingtonville Lutheran Church, where the funeral will be conducted at 11 with her pastor, the Rev. Melody Sell, officiating.
Burial will follow in Washingtonville Lutheran Cemetery.
