SELINSGROVE — Orpha A. Savidge, 88, of Selinsgrove, passed away on Friday, June 21, 2013, at her home.
She was born Aug. 20, 1924, in Hummels Wharf, a daughter of the late George A. Schaeffer and Hettie (Geise) Schaeffer. On July 14, 1944, she married her high school sweetheart, Hiram R. Savidge. He preceded her in death on Aug. 8, 2009, ending a marital union of 65 years.
She graduated from Selinsgrove High School in 1942 and worked at Westinghouse in Sunbury.
Orpha enjoyed taking care of her home, reading and completing her knitting projects. Her beautiful handmade Christmas stockings will be treasured by her family. Orpha’s wit and humorous nature will be remembered fondly by her loved ones.
Orpha was the youngest of four sisters. Surviving is Georgiana Schlegel, of Baltimore, Md. Helen Searer and Mary Reis preceded her in death.
Also surviving are three children and their spouses, daughter Susan Hogg and her husband, Donley Hogg, of State College, son Donald Savidge and wife Frances Savidge, of Seminole, Fla., and daughter Heidi Fasold and husband Craig Fasold, of Paxinos; seven grandchildren, Tammy Savidge-Moore and husband Brandon Mosley, of Atlanta, Ga., Donald Savidge Jr., of Navree, Fla., Richard Hogg and wife Jill Hogg, of Downingtown, Ginger Aurand and husband Richard Aurand, of Northumberland, Andy Hogg, of State College, Matthew Fasold and wife Angela Fasold, of Danville, and Lindy Fasold and fiance Justin Witmer, of Northumberland; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family in Shreiner’s Cemetery, Selinsgrove.
