LEWISBURG — Connie Stamm Charles, 67, of Lewisburg, passed away Saturday, March 2, 2013, at the Buffalo Valley Lutheran Village.
A native of Union County, she was born Oct. 22, 1945, in Lewisburg, a daughter of the late Robert H. and Joan B. (Powell) Stamm. She previously had been married to Corbett Hironimus for 25 years.
Connie was a 1963 graduate of Lewisburg High School.
Connie was a crisis counselor for Susquehanna Valley Women in Transition in Lewisburg.
She was a member of St. Matthew Episcopal Church, Sunbury. Connie was a community activist, most notably for her work in the area of domestic violence, and was a writer for the Standard Journal and The Daily Item.
Connie enjoyed writing poetry, reading and being the life of downtown Lewisburg.
She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law; Amie and Brad Hoffman, of Lewisburg, and Kristen Hironimus and Henry Jay, of Durham, N.C.; one granddaughter, Logan Grace Jay; three nieces, Cathy S. Ranck and husband Craig, Cindy Erdly and Jim and Christy Myers and Roelkey; and one nephew, Philip J. Stamm and Sarah Fleming.
A celebration of Connie’s life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Chapel of the Lewisburg Cemetery with the Rev. Robin Jarrell officiating.
The family will provide flowers and asks that donations in Connie’s memory be made to Susquehanna Valley Women in Transition, P.O. Box 170, Lewisburg, PA 17837.
