BETHLEHEM — William Milton Strunk, 92, of Bethlehem, passed away Tuesday, July 2, 2013, in Marlton, N.J.
A native of Union County, he was born in Mifflinburg on Jan. 27, 1921, a son of the late Herbert Spessard and Mary Elizabeth (Miller) Strunk. He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Beatrice May Anthony, on April 30, 2008, after 62 years of marriage.
He was a graduate of the Mifflinburg High School in 1939, received a B.S. at Bucknell University and his M.D. from Temple University School of Medicine.
He served with the Navy from 1946 to 1967 retiring as a Captain (06).
After he retired from the Navy, he was a physician (radiologist) at Bethlehem Radiology Associated for 26 years.
William was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ, Mifflinburg, the American Medical Association, Pennsylvania Medical Association, Mifflinburg Masonic Lodge #370, enjoyed gardening, raising both vegetables and roses.
William is survived by three children, Dr. William M. Struck II and his wife Jean, of Knoxville, Iowa, Magarget E. Finger, of Marlton, N.J., and Gwendolyn M. Hamilton and her husband Dale, of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Robert K. Strunk.
A Masonic service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at John H. Shaw III Funeral Home, Market and Eighth streets, Lewisburg, followed by the funeral with the Rev. Dawn Marie Meier officiating.
Burial will follow in the Mifflinburg Cemetery with military honors provided by Mifflinburg area veterans.
Donations in William’s memory may be made to the American Breast Cancer Society or other breast cancer related organizations.
