TURBOTVILLE — Irene A. Sechler, 90, of Turbotville, passed away on Sunday, April 21, 2013.
She was born Sept. 19, 1922, in Liberty Township, Montour County, a daughter of the late Emery and Edna (Buss) Anspach. In 1940, she married Paul Sechler, and they celebrated 57 years of marriage before his passing in 1997.
Irene retired as a product designer at Carey McFalls, Montgomery, and before that was employed for many years by American Home Products.
She was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church, Turbotville, The Jolly Bunch and the McEwensville Garden Club.
According to her daughters, Irene was devoted to her family and friends and loved to cook and bake for several community organizations.
She is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Darlene and John Hockenberry, of Exchange, Sandra and Ron Hendricks, of Watsontown, and Beverly and Lewis Carter, of South Dartmouth, Mass.; five grandchildren, Robert Kilgus Jr., Brenda Baylor, Kent Kilgus, Kevin Kilgus and Matthew Gilman and their spouses; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; one brother, Nevin Anspach, of Turbotville; two sisters, Shirley Whitman, of Montandon, and Nancy Quintin, of York; and many other family and friends. All will miss her famous Christmas fudge!
She was preceded in death by her brother, Harold Anspach, and her beloved granddaughter, Shannon Newman.
Friends are invited to call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in Zion Lutheran Church, 39 Paradise St., Turbotville, where the funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday with the Rev. Erwin Roux officiating.
Burial will follow in Twin Hills Memorial Park, Muncy.
