MIDDLEBURG — Fredrick I. “Fred” Boonie II, 45, of 5 Strawberry Lane, passed away on Sunday morning, June 16, 2013, at his home following a two-year battle with cancer.
He was born in Lewistown on Feb. 29, 1968, a son of Jean E. (Snook) Boonie, of The Manor at Penn Village, Selinsgrove, and the late Fredrick I. Boonie. On May 28, 1994, he married the former Marla J. Zechman, who survives.
Fred was a 1986 graduate of the West Snyder High School.
He had been employed at Beavertown Mills until its closing and his most recent employment was with Culligan Water, Lewisburg.
He was a member of Lodge #619 Free and Accepted Masons, Middleburg, and the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge 1229, Middleburg.
He enjoyed hunting, gardening and was very particular about taking care of his lawn.
Fred collected arrowheads and had an extensive collection.
He was very handy and was gifted in repairing anything.
Surviving, in addition to his wife and mother, are one daughter, Janell A.
Boonie, at home; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Kay L. and Alan Goss, of Beaver Springs, and Gloria J. Besek, of Millerstown; father and mother-in-law, Charles and Helen Zechman, of Middleburg; one brother-in-law, Shawn Zechman, of Beavertown; one sister-in-law, Lori Shull and her husband James, of Middleburg; eight nieces; one nephew; and his dog and constant companion, “Brownie.”
Friends and family will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the V.L. Seebold Funeral Home, 601 N. High St., Selinsgrove, followed by the funeral at 8 with Father Daniel Powell, officiating.
