MILLERSBURG — Fairvan K. Schaffner, 85, formerly of Dalmatia, passed away Thursday, June 13, 2013, in Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
Fairvan was born May 9, 1928, in Dalmatia, a son of the late Carmie and Lynnie (Long) Schaffner. He was married to the former Esther Bordner, who preceded him in death.
He attended Dalmatia High School. Fairvan then joined the Navy, serving during WWII, upon his return he became a self employed contractor.
Fairvan is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Dale R. and Deborah L. Schaffner, of Northumberland; one daughter and son-in-law, Robin D. and Darvin Snyder, of Dalmatia; five grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and 12 brothers and sisters.
He was preceded in death by five brothers and sisters.
Burial will be in Ft. Indiantown Gap, Annville at a later date.
