RALEIGH, N.C. — James Arthur Tyson III, 69, of Raleigh, entered eternal life on Jan. 4, 2014.
Jim was a graduate of Loyalsock Township High School and Lycoming College, Williamsport, Pa.
Jim cared immensely about the people that came in and out of his life, from employees and co-workers to friends and family.
Jim was employed by GTE Sylvania, later Osram Sylvania, for most of his career. He was the plant manager at the Warren, Montoursville, Muncy, Wellsboro and York, Pa., facilities. Toward the end of his tenure at Sylvania, he was the general manager of various business units in the United States, Puerto Rico and France. Upon his retirement from Sylvania, he became president of ERP implementation at Carreria Consulting LLC.
He always stood up for what and who he believed in. There wasn’t a more kind-hearted soul than Jim. He would do anything for anyone no matter what was required.
His spirit is carried on by his wife of almost 45 years, Joan Legge Tyson; his son, Todd and his wife, Tiffany, and their two children, James Alexander and Megan, of Abingdon, Md.; his son, Brad and his partner, Bob, of Chicago; his daughter, Shannon, of Raleigh; his mother, Kathyrn Millward Tyson, of Lewisburg; and brother, Thom Tyson, of Los Cabos, Baja California Sur, Mexico.
He was preceded in death by his father, James A. Tyson Jr.
One life lesson Jim passes on is: Don’t ever give up if you want something, work hard and always remember to smile, even when times are tough.
A private ceremony was held at Emerald Isle, N.C.
In lieu of flowers, people may make donations to Hospice of Wake County.
