Erma J. Brugger, 90, Richfield

— RICHFIELD — Erma J. Brugger, 90, of Heister Valley Road, passed away at 8:34 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 21, 2014, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident.

She was born March 15, 1923, at Quaker Run, Juniata County, a daughter of the late Martin and Maggie (Gelnett) Bolig. On Dec. 24, 1945, she married Rudolph E. Brugger, who survives.

Erma attended the Quaker Run school.

She was a homemaker and had worked at the Richfield Shirt Factory.

Erma was a member of the Mount Zion United Methodist Church, Millerstown.

She was a fantastic cook and baker who always saw that the whole family had her famous sand tarts for Christmas.

She also enjoyed making doilies for family and friends, including many name doilies.

Surviving, in addition to her loving husband of 68 years, are one daughter and son-in-law, Mary Ann and Clyde Howe, of Marysville; one son and daughter-in-law, Richard E. and Jean Brugger, of  Boiling Springs; "Mimmie" had three grandchildren and their spouses, Jeffrey and Cindy Howe, Tommy Brugger, and Cindy and Bob Hammond; five great-grandchildren, Ryan, Emily, Jacoby, Gavin, and Zoey; one brother, Earnest Bolig, of Thompsontown; and two sisters, Lena Arnold, of Millerstown and Betty Slipetz, of Endwell, N.Y.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was prececded in death by two sisters, Vera Troup and Hattie Diehl; and two brothers,  Kenneth Gearhart and Richard Bolig.

Friends and family will be received from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday at the Mount Zion United Methodist Church, Millerstown, followed by the funeral at noon with Pastor Ken Brown officiating.

Burial will be in the adjoining church cemetery.

Funeral arrangements are by the Hummel Funeral Home Inc., 574 Hill St. Middleburg.
